Privacy Policy

Astra · last updated 13 October 2026

This policy explains what Astra collects to provide your chart, account, subscriptions and daily readings.

How birth details are stored

Sign-in is required to use Astra. The app sends your name, date, time and place of birth to our server to calculate your chart. Astra stores the birth profile and computed chart with your account so it can restore them after a reinstall or storage clear. The app also keeps a local copy. You can remove a profile in the app and request account deletion to remove the server copy.

What we do store

WhatWhyHow long
A one-way hash of a device identifier To count how many questions a device has used, so free allowances work and cannot be reset by reinstalling Until you ask us to delete it
Counts of questions and matches used The same The same
Subscription status from Google Play To know what you have paid for. We never see your card or your Google account details — only whether a subscription is active The same
Account email, name and password hash if you use email sign-in To sign you in and let support identify your account. A password is stored as a one-way hash, not in readable form Until you request account deletion
Account-linked birth profile and computed chart To restore your saved profile and Home screen after sign-in, reinstall or storage clear Until you remove the profile or request account deletion
A reported Ask question and response To investigate a response you deliberately report in the app Until it has been reviewed or you ask us to delete it
A temporary result for a completed metered Ask, match or muhurta request To return the same answer if the app retries after a lost response, without charging the allowance twice Up to 24 hours; removed sooner when the account is deleted
Bounded app interaction and experiment events To improve the product and compare approved app variants Raw events for 90 days, then aggregated or deleted

The device identifier is hashed with a secret held only on our server before it is stored. The device record can be linked to the last signed-in account for usage and purchase support; it does not contain birth details itself.

Questions you ask

When you ask a question, the app works out the answer from your chart and then sends the findings to a language-model service to be written into readable sentences. That means your question and the relevant parts of your chart are transmitted to that provider for as long as it takes to write the reply.

We do not store your ordinary conversation history on our servers or write your questions to our logs. For a metered request, we temporarily store its generated result for up to 24 hours so a retry after a lost connection can return the same result without charging you twice. This retry cache is not a conversation history and is removed when the account is deleted. If you tap Report response, that specific question and response are stored so the report can be reviewed; the app tells you this before sending.
